Gardening with Home We Go

Kids need time outdoors. There’s also a disconnect between where food comes from and what kids see: packaged food in the supermarket.

At English Camp the kids not only learned some English in this immersive English environment; they did so by learning about food.

The preschool group, with their parents supporting them, planted peas, which we hope will grow big enough to provide a fall harvest, before winter rolls in. And when it does produce some peas, we’ll be back out there to harvest.

Until the peas are ready to harvest, there’s plenty of other things to pick! After the pease were all planted, we harvested some green beans. Once we had enough, we collected some eggs from the chickens and went inside to eat. Together we boiled the beans, and made fresh mayonnaise from the chickens’ eggs to dip the beans in.

And of course, the beans and peas, like everything we produce, is grown as naturally as possible, chemical free: fed with compost, no fertilizer, no herbicide and no pesticides are used.

We hope you can join us next time!
